Memorandum of understanding on political consultations signed between Azerbaijan and Rwanda

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda, Vincent Biruta, within the framework of the high-level week of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry announced, APA reports.

During the meeting, the prospects of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov drew attention to the development of our country's relations with a number of countries in the African region, including Rwanda, especially during the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

It has been stated that the development of cooperation is possible between the two countries, despite their geographical distance, and there is confidence that the political consultation mechanism in this direction can contribute positively to the process.

Minister Vincent Biruta fondly recalled Azerbaijan's successful presidency at the Non-Aligned Movement, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and emphasized the significance of important initiatives involving member states, including countries in the African region.

During the meeting, the "Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Rwanda" and the "Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda on the Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Service Passports" were also signed.
