As reported, the delegation of Azerbaijan helmed by Chair of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova are in Moscow on a working trip to join the events honouring the centenary of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, Press and Public Relations Department of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis told APA.
On 15 May, the Azerbaijani delegation arrived at the HQ of TAS Agency in the Russian capital city and were welcomed by TASS Director General Serghey Mikhaylov and his Deputy Mikhail Gusman.
Our deputation viewed the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, the National leader of the Azerbaijani people, in the square in front of the Agency HQ.
Photos from various periods of the life and political activity of the prominent politician and statesman Heydar Aliyev are displayed here. The exposition covers Heydar Aliyev's work on development of the country during his tenure in the former USSR as well as the large-scale projects he implemented. In addition, pictures related to the Azerbaijani-Russian relations after the great leader came back to power in Azerbaijan for the second time are on display as well.
Having studied the exhibition, the Azerbaijani delegation held a meeting with TASS executives at which Sahiba Gafarova thanked for the sensitivity and attention, and for the arrangement of the exhibition to celebrate the centenary of Heydar Aliyev, a great son of the Azerbaijani people. Mrs Gafarova stressed that Heydar Aliyev's name would always be etched in the history of Azerbaijan to live perpetually as that of a genius whose whole life had been devoted to the selfless service to his people. Heydar Aliyev's leadership qualities, far-sighted policy and firm will allowed him to fulfil his salvation mission at the fatal moments of our history, according to Madam Speaker. The work that the Great Leader was doing during the years he had spent leading Azerbaijan as an independent state is now continued successfully by President Ilham Aliyev. Fill with appreciation, our people honour the memory of the nation’s great son Heydar Aliyev and remember him with gratitude, Sahiba Gafarova continued.
The conversation went on. TASS Director General Serghey Mikhaylov and Agency officials talked about the unprecedented activities of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev, a genius, about his part in the progress of the Russian-Azerbaijani relations and about also the outstanding work he had done whilst in the USSR government team.
Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Anar Alakbarov, Head of the Azerbaijani-Russian Inter-Parliamentary Connexions Working Group Nizami Safarov, MP Mikhail Zabelin, MP Elnur Allahverdiyev and other people took part in the meeting as well
