"Non-Aligned Movement is an important global platform. It is the second largest organization after the UN and half of the world's population lives in these countries," said Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, APA reports.

"I thank Azerbaijan's President for his active leadership in promoting multilateral diplomacy and strengthening cooperation among countries within the platform," he said.

He emphasized the importance of Azerbaijan's initiatives during the pandemic.

Noting the fact that OTS is a relatively young organization, the Secretary-General stated that the organization worked closely with WHO during the pandemic.

He added that in the event of a crisis and emergency, the OTS countries reacted immediately.

As an example, the Secretary-General mentioned the efforts of OTS to help eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in Türkiye.

He stated that up to 2,000 medical and search and rescue personnel from TDT countries have gone, that 9 field hospitals have been established in the earthquake area, and that hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid have been dispatched to Türkiye.
