“Baku taking full control over Garabagh indicates that the flag of Azerbaijan will fly over the administrative buildings in Khankandi in the coming days,” Russian military-political analyst Yevgeny Mikhailov said in an interview with the Moscow bureau of APA.

According to him, after the local anti-terror measures Azerbaijan conducted in Garabagh, peace is not far between Baku and Yerevan.

The expert believes that right now, the start of the integration process of Garabagh into the economy of Azerbaijan is the great success of the official Baku. “It should be taken into consideration that currently, France, the US, and other Western countries are trying to discredit the activity of Azerbaijan in the region. The point is, that the West’s plan of bringing its own peacekeepers to the region did not happen. Russia maintained its position in the region and Baku is quite satisfied with the activity of the Russian peacekeepers. It is the Russian peacekeepers who are observing the process of Khankandi and the surrounding regions being taken into full control of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has already separated Khankandi from the power grid of Armenia and has connected it to its own power grid. This is the beginning of Khankandi's gradual entry into the life of Azerbaijan. Of course, all these will be accompanied by problems. Currently, the process of surrendering the illegal Armenian armed units is underway. Provocations against Azerbaijan will continue. Baku guarantees to ensure the security of the Garabagh Armenians. We see that negotiations regarding this are being done. Yes, these negotiations are difficult. However, there is no other choice for Armenians. Because as a matter of fact, Azerbaijan is creating order in its territory. The Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and the Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin have also confirmed it. They have stated that Azerbaijan has restored order in its home and has put everything in order. This is the main position of official Moscow and it’s very important for Azerbaijan that Russia’s position is as such,” the Russian expert stressed.

Mikhaylov also highlighted the anti-Russian mood currently existing in Armenia, and the allegations the official Yerevan will withdraw from the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

"Pashinyan said in his last statements that Armenia's participation in CSTO is dangerous for his country. Let's see, Russia will not allow Yerevan to leave the CSTO and join NATO. Pashinyan follows Zelensky's path. This is a great tragedy for the people of Armenia," the Russian analyst added.

The expert also said that the prospect of opening the Zangazur corridor, which was mentioned in the statement of November 10, 2020, is great. He noted that sooner or later this corridor will be opened: "Because this corridor is beneficial both to Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, Iran, and Russia. I don't think that this corridor will somehow be an obstacle to Armenia's statehood. However, we now observe that Yerevan's Western partners are influencing this process. The Zangazur corridor is not profitable for the West. Because this corridor will open a new breath for Iran which has been under heavy Western sanctions for a long time, and for Russia, which has undergone economic pressure due to the Ukraine war.
