“There recently was another agreement to hold a meeting in Aghdam at the invitation of the Azerbaijani side. As you know, there is necessary infrastructure for holding meetings in Aghdam. Representatives of Armenian residents of Garabagh also rejected a meeting in Aghhdam," Assistant to Azerbaijani President-Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev told journalists at the post created for Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society's humanitarian cargo on Aghdam-Asgaran-Khankandi road, APA reports.
"Therefore, rejecting dialogue and contacts, refusing to open the road is a manifestation of a completely non-constructive and aggressive policy. I want to reiterate that the responsibility for this lies with the people who introduce themselves as representatives of the so-called regime, as well as with the leadership of Armenia. Because Armenia also has a direct responsibility here. Armenia cannot step back from this responsibility. Today, the maintenance of the so-called regime is carried out through the state budget of Armenia. More than 360 million dollars are spent for these purposes. Elements of the Armed Forces of Armenia still continue to exist in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan. The armed forces of the so-called regime are also present in that area. This is a serious threat to regional peace and security as well. They are still continuing the process of mining the territories, which are unacceptable facts for Azerbaijan. Such acts by Armenia interfere in Azerbaijan's internal affairs, disrupt regional peace and security, as well as deal very serious blow to the process of negotiations between the two countries on a peace treaty,” the presidential assistant added.
