“The Russian side is interested in the stability in the South Caucasus. Russia is in favor of resolving all controversial without exception through political and diplomatic means, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing, APA reports.
She underlined that both Azerbaijan and Armenia mutually recognized each other's territorial integrities: “Azerbaijan and Armenia will base their practical activities on this principle. The Russian side is interested in the stability of the South Caucasus. Russia is in favor of resolving all controversial without exception through political and diplomatic means. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan are our allies. The declaration on allied interaction between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation signed in 2020 is successfully being carried out.
As for the opening of transport communications in the region, this issue is comprehensively considered by the tripartite working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Russia, and Armenia. We are confident that it is in this format that a mutually acceptable solution can and should be found, which will guarantee each country its sovereignty over the route that will pass through its national territory. Such an agreement, based on the balance of interests, will benefit the states of the region, including neighboring Russia, Türkiye and Iran," said Zakharova.
