Russian MFA: Azerbaijan and Armenia are at the beginning of a difficult road to reconciliation

"Azerbaijan and Armenia are still at the beginning of the road to reconciliation," said Denis Gonchar, Director of the Fourth Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said in an interview with RIA Novosti, APA reports.

"It is clear that we are only at the beginning of the difficult reconciliation process between the two countries. Achieving sustainable results will demand time and significant efforts from both sides," the Russian diplomat stressed.

The Russian MFA official noted that Moscow would continue to assist Baku and Yerevan in implementing the trilateral agreements: "Russia is determined to continue providing all necessary assistance to Baku and Yerevan for the implementation of the trilateral agreements. All relevant contacts, including at the highest levels, has a regular character through institutions and the command of peacekeepers".

According to him, if a decision is made to hold the next tripartite meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia, the press service of the Kremlin will make a corresponding announcement.
