"Delimitation process of Armenia-Azerbaijan border is at the preliminary stage," said Director of the Fourth Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry for CIS Countries Denis Gonchar in an interview with RIA, APA's Moscow bureau reports.

"Because the process of delimitation of the Armenia-Azerbaijani border is at the preliminary stage, our task is to create all the necessary conditions to ensure the maximum efficiency of the work, to help increase the level of stability and security in the border zone, to avoid politicization and escalation of border issues without outside interference in this activity, which is very sensitive for both sides. Unfortunately, this is not stable, In the night of September 13, the situation on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border became sharply aggravated," said a Russian diplomat.

He recalled that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia calls on the sides to avoid further aggravating the situation and to be calm and follow the ceasefire regime.

Russian MFA official has also spoken about Brussels’s mediation mission in the settlement of Azerbaijani-Armenian relations. He stated that the European Union does not even hide the fact that they aim to push Russia out of the South Caucasus.

According to him, Brussels’s intervention attempts against Moscow’s trilateral work with Baku and Yerevan occur against the background of a sanctioned campaign against Russia launched by the West and the cessation of joint work of the OSCE through the Minsk Group.

“These are the geopolitical games zero-consequence geopolitical games that we did not play. We are dealing with practical works every day, which are based on direct contacts among our leaders and foreign ministers, the historical closeness of our countries, the intermingling of interests, and directed to establish a safer and more prosperous future,” stressed a Russian diplomat.

Gonchar said that Moscow is in close contact with Baku and Yerevan and is taking all measures to stabilize the situation as soon as possible.
