"The US has already announced that it supports Azerbaijan in the humanitarian demining process in Karabakh. I hope that we will be able to support more because there is a great need for this," Lee Litzenberger, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan told at the briefing, APA reports.
He recalled that about 200 Azerbaijanis became victims of mine since the end of the war: "As well as, unless these mines are cleared, we will not be able to see the return of the most important target - more IDPs - to these areas. Demining is very important to create conditions for people to return to their homes".
According to the diplomat, some US companies participate int he specific projects in the liberated territories.
He noted that the US companies own the best technologies in the world in the field of especially renewable energy: 'As we know, renewable energy is considered the most important energy source in the liberated territories. President Ilham Aliyev also announced that these areas have the potential for wind, solar, and hydropower. And we have companies presenting technologies at the best quality and price".
