"On the initiative of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, a humanitarian initiative was put forward to transfer the bodies of Armenian soldiers and officers, as well as two elderly Armenians, who remained on the territory of Azerbaijan to the Armenian side.," Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev said, APA reports.
H. Hajiyev noted that despite the fact that Azerbaijan put forward this initiative since October 18, the Armenian side did not respond to it: "Today this process took place, 30 bodies of Armenian soldiers and one of the elderly Armenians were handed over to the Armenian side. A humanitarian corridor was created on the Tovuz-Gazakh direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the transfer of a body, and an elderly person took place.
Presidential Aide also emphasized that Azerbaijan expresses gratitude to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and personally to Minister Sergei Shoigu for support in the implementation of the humanitarian initiative and the creation of a humanitarian corridor: "We also express our gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross, the office of the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office. This once again proves the adherence of the Republic of Azerbaijan to humanitarian values, international humanitarian law, the Geneva Convention."
