Azerbaijani police officers prevented illegal circulation of large amount of narcotic substance smuggled from Iran Islamic Republic, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan (MIA) told APA.
Namig Mammadov was detained for organizing the illegal circulation of drugs by employees of Main Directorate for Combating Drugs of the MIA. 50 kilograms of narcotic substance (28 kilograms of heroin and 22 kilograms of pyxotropic substance methamphetamine), were found and seized during a search of his car.
Namiq Mammadov said that he delivered the drugs from the hidden place to various addresses through an acquaintance named "Hadi" whose identity is under investigation, an Iranian citizen, and obtained them in order to earn money.
A criminal case has been initiated under the relevant article of the Criminal Code.
