Azerbaijan initiates criminal case regarding the terrorist act on the Embassy in Iran: SSS

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the terrorist act committed against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, Azerbaijan’s State Security Service issued information in this regard, APA reports.

“On January 27, 2023, at around 08:30 on Baku time, an armed attack was made on the Azerbaijani embassy in Iran.

The attacker attacked the security post with a Kalashnikov automatic weapon, killing the head of the Security Service of the embassy Orkhan Asgerov and injuring two more security employees. However, embassy employees disarmed the criminal and stopped his criminal activities.

A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the terrorist act committed against the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran.

"We strongly condemn the Terror Attack at the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran, Iran, and believe the respective state authorities will do their best to bring the perpetrators to justice," she noted.

A criminal case was initiated into fact under the Articles of 12.2, 120.2.1, 12.2, 120.2.4, 12.2, 120.2.11, 12.2, 29, 120.2.7, 12.3, 214.2.1, 12.3, 214.2.3 and 12.2, 228.2.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan in connection with the fact. At present, investigative and operational measures are underway.

The relevant institutions of the Islamic Republic of Iran were addressed to solve the necessary issues related to the investigations.

A complete and comprehensive investigation of all cases regarding terrorist acts committed against the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran will be provided, and additional information will be provided to the public."
