On January 2, at around 21:00, one citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria who attempted to cross the state border from the Republic of Azerbaijan in the direction of the Republic of Georgia was detained in the official territory of the frontier post located near the village of Pochtbina of the Balakan district of the "Zagatala" border detachment of the State Border Service (SBS), APA reports citing the SBS press service.
The investigation established that the detainee intended to arrive on the territory of the country officially, violate the state border, and migrate from the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Georgia and from there to one of the European countries.
An operational-investigative measure is underway on the fact.
