Persons who joined illegal armed groups in foreign countries prosecuted

The State Security Service (SSS) continues operational-investigation measures related to the persons involved in the activities of illegal armed formations outside the country, APA reports citing Public Relations Department of the SSS.

It was noted the investigation carried out by the State Security Committee, identified reasonable suspicions that the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Huseynov Seymur Alish oglu, born in 1976, and Novruzbeyov Elkhan Amanulla oglu, born in 1970, left the country and entered Tehran city of the Islamic Republic of Iran and then they illegally entered the territory of other foreign countries and joined criminal gangs, participating in military exercises and armed conflicts to join illegal armed groups.

During the investigation, it was found out that S. Huseynov was a member of an illegal armed group led by a person nicknamed "Abuzar", and E. Novruzbeyov was a member of illegal armed groups led by Gasimov Vusal Gazanfarovich.

Both men were found guilty and brought to justice under Articles 12.1 and 279.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (participation in the activities of armed groups not provided for by law outside the Republic of Azerbaijan).

Currently, investigative operational measures on criminal case are continued.
