Purchase of new planes will allow Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL), which is national air carrier of Azerbaijan, to expand route networks, AZAL’s First Vice-President Sabir Ilyasov told APA-Economics.

“AZAL has a strategic development plan, new routes have been determined by taking into consideration purchase of new planes. New routes will embrace south-eastern countries. Furthermore, it is planned to increase number of flights in other directions”, said S. Ilyasov.

He said currently, in addition to Moscow and Istanbul, Dubai and the cities of China and Europe had taken their places among the popular destinations. The number of aircrafts being at disposal of AZAL Company is not sufficient for further development of the network of flights: “Therefore we plan to buy aircrafts of “Airbus A320Neo” and “Boeing 787” types”.

S. Ilyasov also stated that currently there were over 20 passenger aircrafts on the balance of AZAL Company.
