On January 18, 2021, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, delegation led by Co-Chair of the State Commission for Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shahin Mustafayev visited Islamic Republic of Iran in order to attend the 14th meeting of State Commission, the Cabinet of Ministers told APA.
Within the framework of the visit, Sh. Mustafayev met with Mahmoud Vaezi, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Farhad Dejpasand, Ministers of Roads and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami and Minister of Energy Rza Ardakanian, and held negotiations.
During the meeting held at the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran, the current state and future prospects of cooperation between our countries in the field of road transport and cargo transportation were discussed.
At the meeting held at the Ministry of Energy, cooperation between the two countries in the field of electricity was discussed, views were exchanged on steps to be taken to accelerate ongoing projects. The issues of synchronization of Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia energy systems and electricity trade between Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey were discussed.The importance of the projects implemented for the efficient use of water and energy potential of the Araz river was stressed.
An agreement was reached on issues related to the Ordubad and Marazad hydroelectric power plant, as well as the next steps to be taken to complete the construction of the Khudaferin and Maiden Tower hydro junctions and hydroelectric power stations.
Views have been exchanged on opportunities for cooperation in the field of electricity in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
