Google, YouTube and most of Google services suffer outage

Google, YouTube and most of Google services have suffered an outage, APA reports citing DownDetector.

YouTube users said that could not access the website and watch videos. Similarly Google users could not access their mail and other services such as Google Docs, GMaps, Google Analytics. Some users could not even log in.

The outage seemed to have started 10-15 minutes back. DownDetector, an online platform that provides users with real-time information about the functioning status of websites, has shown a massive spike in reports against Google services. People have been coming in from various countries - India, Sweden, Spain, Germany, USA among others, to break the news on social media. There have been more than 20,000 reports as of 5:50 pm on the website. Google's own tracker for its services do not seem to be reflecting the outage.

Services like Google Classroom as well as the Play Store - the hub of Android applications - have also been reported to malfunction. Some users have indicated that YouTube, of all other Google services, can be accessed on incognito mode/private modes of browsers. Using this mode, the browser disables itself from recording any user's browsing history. This anomaly has only been observed for YouTube, and not for other services.

Google is yet to comment on the outage. "We are aware that many of you are having issues accessing YouTube right now our team is aware and looking into it. We'll update you here as soon as we have more news," says YouTube.

"Oops...the system encountered a problem - retrying," reads the message on Gmail, while YouTube shows a cartoon of a monkey with the caption "Something went wrong..."

Some users are unable to use Google's search engine as well that seems to be reflecting a 400 error message. "The server cannot process the request because it is malformed. It should not be retried," is the message on the screen.
