At the meeting of the Coordinating Council for Transit Cargo Transportation of the Republic of Azerbaijan chaired by the Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, a decision was made to establish a single headquarters for the management of transit cargo transportation, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport told APA.

The main goal of the headquarters is the simplification and electronification of the procedures carried out at the border-crossing points, the synchronized planning of the transit operations and the improvement of the processes of management by a single dispatcher. Acting in the interest of the country, the Headquarters will monitor operations and regularly submit reports to the Secretariat of the Coordination Council.

A "Call Center" will be created at the Headquarters for the prompt solution of cargo carriers' problems during transit.

At the same time, the "Procedural Rules for the management of operations during the transportation of transit cargo" were signed for the operations carried out in the territory of the Baku International Sea Terminal Port. The document regulates the processes of cargo processing, sequence of operations and documentation of deadlines. It was decided to accept a similar document at other border crossing points.

It was reported that the "Transit Road Map" was drawn up as a result of the research of local and foreign experts. This map defines the short, medium and long-term goals for fully unlocking Azerbaijan's transit potential.

It was noted that transit freight in the East-West and North-West directions (excluding pipelines) was 325,000 tons (15% increase) and 873,000 tons in the same months of 2022, respectively, compared to January-June 2021 (205% increase) increased to 2.5 million tons and 1.3 million tons.

During the months of January-June 2022, the transportation of oil of Turkmenistan origin increased by 746 thousand tons (155%) and amounted to 1.2 million tons along the BTC oil pipeline, compared to the corresponding period of 2021.

Compared to the same period, oil products (especially oil products of Kazakhstan origin) in the direction of Yalama - Big Cut increased by 772 thousand tons (707% increase) to 0.9 million tons in the first 6 months of 2022.

At the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the dynamic tariff policy on the railway to ensure the flow of cargo passing through Azerbaijan.

It should be noted that the Coordinating Council for Transit Cargo Transportation of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a collegial executive power body established to ensure the involvement of transit cargo in the transport corridors passing through the country and its high-quality transportation.
