Agreement on reducing roaming tariffs can be singed among Eastern Partnership countries next year

A joint meeting on reducing roaming tariffs has been held among Eastern Partnership countries, the Ministry of Communication, Transport, and High Technologies told APA-Economics.

The meeting has been held in Vilnius of Lithuania with participation of Roaming Expert Working Group (REWG) of Eastern Partnership Electronic Communications Regulators Network (EaPeReg) of the European Union (EU), representatives of relevant bodies of European countries, and diplomatic representatives of these countries, accredited in the Republic of Lithuania.

Azerbaijan was represented by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Lithuania, besides representatives of the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Transport, Communication, and High Technologies.

Main purpose of the meeting was conducting exchange of opinions on the done works within framework of the Regional Roaming Agreement, planned to be signed in 2020 in order to reduce roaming tariffs in the Eastern Partnership region.

Mentioned meeting was held with support of European Commission, Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Lithuania, as well as Ukraine’s National Commission for the State Regulation of Communications and Informatization, chairing the REWG.

Note that Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Moldova, Belarus, and Ukraine are included in the Eastern Partnership program.
