Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Georgia to establish "Eurasian Rail Alliance" joint venture

Georgia, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have agreed to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, APA reports citing Sputnik Kazakhstan.

To ensure the transportation of Kazakh and transit cargo, negotiations were held on March 9-10 between representatives of the Ministry of Industry of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

The results of the negotiations regarding development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route and the topic of transportation of Kazakhstani goods were considered at a meeting of the headquarters for anti-crisis measures, the publication reports. It is possible to transport up to 10 million tons per year, including up to 200 thousand containers along the route.

Regarding the current route through the port of Lianyungang ( China) the issue of reducing the tariff for transit cargo transportation is being worked out, the press service of the government added.

There is no downtime of Kazakh cargo on the border with China.
