EBRD: Urbanization level in Azerbaijan nears 55%

Azerbaijan’s share of urban population accounted for approximately 55% of the total population in 2017, APA-Economics reports citing the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's new report (EBRD) entitled “Creating livable cities: regional perspectives”.

The report also reflected the data on the other countries in the region. According to the report, Georgia’s urban populations share was nearly 60%.

As for rates of an urban population growth in Azerbaijan, this indicator almost reached 2% in the reporting period. It should also be noted that Armenia and Georgia had lower figures for rates of an urban population growth in 2017, about 0,6% and 0,2%, respectively.
