Over 50M tonnes of cargo transported through TRACECA last year

In 2016, 50.3 million tonnes of cargo were transported through Azerbaijan part of TARCECA. Cargo turnover made up 9,917.4 million ton/km.

According to State Statistical Committee, 31,500,000 tonnes or 62.6% of cargos were transported by motor transports, 13,800,000 tonnes or 27.4% by railway transport and 5,000,000 tonnes or 10.0% by sea transport.

Compared to a year earlier, the cargos transported via the corridor fell 3.7%. This was caused by decline in cargo transportations via railway and sea transport (relevantly 10.9% and 17.7%). Freight via motor transport rose 2.7%. 15.7% or 7,900,000 tonnes of transported cargos made transit cargos.
