Renowned Azerbaijani journalist dies

The honored journalist, the Presidential pensioner Elmira Aliyeva has died at the age of 89, APA reports citing “Azertaj”.

After graduating from journalism faculty of Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, Elmira Aliyeva worked in editorial office of “Bakinskiy rabochiy” newspaper by the assignment. During 1960-70-ies she was a special correspondent of “Izvestiya” newspaper for Azerbaijan.

In 1987, she started to work in "Azerinform" (the present "Azertaj") news agency. She worked in this agency in the positions of special correspondent under General Director, head of culture department, and editor-in-chief of the main editorial office for news in Russian language for about 10 years.

Although she retired on a pension in 2010, she continued to proactively cooperate with the printed media.
