Explosive-laden car explodes near presidential palace in Somali

An explosives-laden car blew up on Wednesday at a checkpoint near the presidential palace in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu, the Garowe Online news website reported, ONAreports citing Sputnik.

No fatalities have been officially reported so far, the website specified. Shelling could be heard at the site of the incident after the explosion, according to Xinhua news agency.

Former Minister of Internal Security and sitting MP Abdirizak Mohamed said that two MPs sought shelter in his house, fleeing the explosion.

No armed group operating in the region has claimed responsibility for the explosion yet.
