There is no military solution for the Libyan crisis, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said, ONA reports.

"I am flying from Tripoli to Tobruk and Benghazi. My aim remains the same: avoid a military confrontation. I reiterate that there is no military solution for the Libyan crisis, only a political one," Secretary General wrote on his Twitter page.

Recall that a military leader Gen. Khalifa Hafter, who has vowed for years that he would seize control of Libya ordered his troops on Thursday to march on the capital, Tripoli.

By nightfall, they had come within 25 miles of the city and a powerful rival militia was racing to stop them, raising the possibility of renewed civil war.

The UN-backed government in Tripoli said it had put its forces on high alert.
