US senators introduced a bill last month containing sweeping sanctions on Russia's energy and banking sectors, as well as the country's sovereign debt, in response over purported meddling in the US elections, the Kerch incident and alleged aggression in Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly denied the accusations, ONA reports referring to Sputnik International.
The United States has prepared a draft with new sanctions against Russia in connection with the incident in the British city of Salisbury, Bloomberg reported, citing sources.
According to Sputnik referring to Bloomberg, the new package of restrictions is awaiting the approval of the White House.
The first batch of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by Washington in connection with the poisoning took effect in August.
