The US government is neither willing nor able to take any military action against Iran, a defense adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said, ONA reports citing Tasnim.

In an interview with Qatar’s Al Araby TV network, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said Iran is confident, as all evidence shows, that the Americans are neither inclined nor able to take military action against the Islamic Republic.

“Washington’s unwillingness to attack Iran results from its inability,” the former defense minister said, adding that “the US is incapable of launching any military strike on Iran, be it a limited attack on certain Iranian bases or a full-fledged war.”

The general explained that while the region has no more capacity for an inclusive crisis, the Americans are unable to prepare the world public opinion for a military attack on Iran.

His comments came days after an Iranian expert close to military sources said the US government has officially notified Iran that it has no plan whatsoever for a military confrontation with the Islamic Republic.

“The US administration’s senior officials have emphasized and asserted in a recent formal message to top Iranian officials that they have no plans, under any circumstances, for a military clash with Iran,” Sadollah Zarei told Tasnim on Saturday.

A couple of days earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif described a war between Iran and the United States in the near future as unlikely, warning, however, that accidents could happen that might lead to confrontation.
