Azerbaijan attaches special importance to state-religion relations: CMO chairman

Baku. Mubariz Aslanov – APA. Azerbaijan attaches special importance to the relationship between state and religion, said Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office.

He made the remarks in Baku Nov. 25 at the opening of a two-week seminar on national moral values and mass media, co-organized by the Caucasian Muslims Office, the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Press Council.

The seminar was attended by Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Unions and Religious Organizations Siyavush Novruzov, Press Council Chairman Aflatun Amashov and representatives of media outlets.

Pashazade noted that such a high level meeting had never been held between journalists and religious figures in Azerbaijan.

“Of course, we had several meetings with journalists, but such an expanded meeting is taking place for the first time. We must rely on journalists and hold consultations with each other. This seminar is aimed at increasing religious knowledge of journalists and developing the relations between religious figures and journalists. We want to work in favor of the state,” he added.

Addressing the event, Mubariz Gurbanli noted the importance of increasing religious knowledge of journalists.

In his speech, Aflatun Amashov said this seminar will prevent promotion of radical religious ideas in the country.
