An article on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly Genocide has been published in Russia's “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” newspaper, APA's correspondent in Moscow reports.

It has been noted in Denis Pisaryov's article "Khojaly - remember for the sake of the future" that world peoples should take a lesson from tragedies of the past.

"Khojaly Genocide occurred on February 26, 1992, during the First Karabakh War, is commemorated in different countries of the world. At that time, the Armenian Armed Forces attacked the residential settlement of Azerbaijanis and it resulted in the death of hundreds of innocent civilians, who attempted to flee. Many books have been written on the tragic events, movies have been shot, but these do not allow to say the bloody history has remained in history," noted Author.

Pisaryov wrote in the article that innocent Azerbaijanis trying to leave Khojaly were killed by Armenian armed forces: "Although some of the refugees were moving through a "free corridor", which was claimed that the Armenian armed forces were especially keeping it, women, the elderly and children were repeatedly fired upon and subjected to groundless attacks.

According to Azerbaijani representatives, more than a thousand citizens have been taken hostage. According to estimates of experts, in the four days after the attack on Khojaly, about 200 bodies were taken to Agdam alone, a total of 613 people were killed during the Khojaly tragedy. Among the dead, there were 63 children, 106 women, and 70 elderly people. Even more people have been taken hostage and the fate of 150 of them is still unknown. It is clear from the testimonies of witnesses that civilians were taken hostage for further exchange, in other words, used as hostages.
