"The area of demined liberated territories so far has been announced," said Araz Imanov, Senior Advisor of the Special Representation of the President of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh Economic Region, APA reports.
Araz Imanov noted that 530 million square meters of land had been cleared of mines since November 2020: "More than 66,000 mines and unexploded ammunition have been found in those areas. UN independent experts have forecasted that there are about 1 million landmines and unexploded ordnance in the liberated territories. It will take 25 years and 50 billion dollars to clear those areas from the landmines."
