The sportsmen of the Central Sports Club, who successfully performed as part of the Azerbaijani delegation at the Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championship held in Serbian Belgrade have returned to their Motherland, APA reports citing the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.
The CSC athletes won 1 gold and 1 silver medal for the assets of Azerbaijan.
Captain Rafig Huseynov, competing in the 82 kg weight class, won the gold medal. By showing perseverance, he defeated all his opponents and took 1st place.
Other Azerbaijani representative Hasrat Jafarov, competed in the 67 kg weight category and won a silver medal.
Greco-Roman wrestling team of Azerbaijan became the world champion in the team competition.
It should be noted that the coach of Azerbaijani athletes who won medals at the World Championships is the Central Sports Club’s representative, Senior Lieutenant Hasan Aliyev.
