Mine clearance equipment and mine detection dogs to be brought to Azerbaijan

"Increase of personnel in stages is increased for timely and exact implementation of mine clearance operations. 239 persons were trained and accredited and involved in operations in 2021. An increase in the number of aerial working staff is also considered this year and we believe that we will achieve clearance of larger scope of the area," said the Chair of the Board of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov, APA reports.

V. Suleymanov noted that a number of special demining equipment, magnetic-locator, and detectors, a handbag of mine detector, as well as protective clothing, is increased in the direction of expansion of logistic base: "According to the agreements, signed last year, bringing of additional machinery and equipment to Azerbaijan is also planned in 2022."

V. Suleymanoc added that there were additions to a number of specially-trained dogs involved in demining operations: "A memorandum was signed with Marshall Legacy Institute (MLI), handing over 30 mine detection dogs to the ANAMA is considered. 20 of them have already been sent to the Agency. I should also note that 12 specially-trained dogs were bought at the account of ANAMA, while 18 at the account of the contribution of individual donors. Continuation of current cooperation and bringing new dogs in coming years are expected."
