The positions of the Azerbaijani Army located in the direction of the settlements of Zeylik, Yellice and Yukhari Ayrim of the Kalbajar district are fired from the positions of the Armenian armed forces located in the directions of the settlements of the Basarkechar district, Yukhari Shorja, Ashagi Shorja and Zarkand using D-30 and D-20 cannons, APA reports citing the Defense Ministry.
Despite the calls of the international community and the agreement reached on the ceasefire, attacks and provocations continue in the areas along the border using artillery and other heavy weapons by the Armenian armed forces.
"We reiterate that all responsibility for escalating the situation lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia. The Azerbaijani army is carrying out local retaliatory measures against firing points, which are only legitimate military targets. The Armenian side must refrain from provocative actions and comply with the agreement on the ceasefire," the statement said.
