US is interested in cooperation in the sphere of fight against landmine threat in Azerbaijan

Vugar Suleymanov, Chairman of the Management Board of the National Agency for Mine Action of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) met with Mark Cameron, the head of the Office of Caucasian Affairs and Regional Conflicts of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs of the US State Department, ANAMA told APA.

During the meeting, a presentation about the history of the Agency, directions of activity, the scale of existing mine threat in the liberated areas from the occupation, the obstacle to the restoration and construction works, as well as alongside areas along the former contact line, severe contamination of destroyed settlements and civilian objects with mines was presented.

Mr. Cameron stressed that they are interested in long-term cooperation in various fields of humanitarian demining activities for contributing safe return of former IDPs to their homelands.
