Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno Garabagh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan has released a statement in relation to the 27th anniversary of the occupation of Gubadli district by Armenian Armed Forces, APA reports.

"On August 31, 1993, Gubadli region was occupied by Armenia’s Armed Forces. As a result of Armenia’s aggression, 238 residents of Gubadli were martyred, 316 people became disabled, over 100 people were missing. As a result of the occupation, the region’s administrative center and 93 villages were completely destroyed and plundered, over 40 thousand Gubadli residents became internally displaced persons. As a result of occupation of Gubadli, 445 thousand square meters of apartment fund, 4 health institutions, 6 kindergartens, 61 general education schools, 10 culture centers, 24 clubs, 1 regional history and ethnography museum, 60 libraries were destroyed, and the occupants burnt and plundered 94 villages and settlements, 205 cultural and utility facilities, 12 historical monuments. 9 ancient caves in each of Ashaghi Mollu and Hamzali villages, 5 caves in Aliguluushaghi village, and 1 cave dating back to the 4th century on the territory called Gavur deresi, Goy gala (fortress) built in the 5th century, Galali fortress in Muradkhanli village, and all historical monuments in Khojamsakhli village were trampled under enemy’s boots. The occupation by Armenia in the beginning of the conflict of the 7 surrounding regions including Gubadli region situated beyond boundaries of the former Nagorno Garabagh Autonomous Oblast being our ancestral lands and claimed by Armenia proves that this conflict just originates from Armenia’s intention to annex the Azerbaijani territories by force. The further intensification of policy of illegal settlement on the occupied Azerbaijani lands including Gubadli by Armenia shows that Armenia hasn’t given up its intention to keep our territories under occupation and to entrench the results of the occupation and is not interested in peaceful solution of the conflict.

We declare that resolution of the conflict will be possible just after the withdrawal of Armenian Armed forces from all occupied Azerbaijani territories and return of Azerbaijanis, subjected to ethnic cleansing, to their native lands. Like all internally displaced people, Gubadli people will return their native lands", noted in the statement.
