“Several days ago I visited the Fizuli, Jabrail, Gubadli and Zangilan regions liberated from occupation. This is a very sad situation from an environmental point of view. In those areas where we were, there is almost no forest area, not that forests, not even trees. Only ruins remained," head of the State Environmental Security Service Hikmet Alizadeh said in a live broadcast of “Expert Hour” on the official Facebook page of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, APA reports.
Over the years, he said, all the trees were cut down or used as firewood, or cut down and sent to factories in the furniture industry: “These places need a very long-term work. From the first days, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources began assessment work there. In this regard, the Department of Ecology and Natural Resources No. 12 was established, covering the Karabakh region. Appropriate appraisal work is being carried out, and in parallel, the process of sowing trees in those areas where it is possible (in particular plane trees) is underway, sowing oak seeds is carried out almost every day. More serious, more ambitious work will be done very soon ”.
