“One of the main issues mentioned in the statement signed on November 10 was the return of Aghdam, Kalbajar, and Lachin districts to us,” said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the press conference held in a video format for local and foreign journalists, APA reports.
The head of state notes that Azerbaijan has achieved this: “On December 1, those districts returned to us. At the same time, I consider that positive steps are being taken on other issues mentioned in the statement. Of course, some issues are still not being implemented. They need a certain amount of time. But in general, I consider that the issue is progressing in a positive direction.”
The President noted that the activity of the Turkey-Russia Joint Monitoring Center is also a very important step taken in this field: “I am sure that a great contribution will be made to the work in strengthening stability and ceasefire regime by means of this monitoring center. As the President of Azerbaijan, I want to note that no aggressive step will be taken by the Azerbaijani side. We had never done it and there is no need for this today. Therefore statement dated November 10 is being implemented in general. There are some issues that have not been reflected in November 10 statement, however, it has been agreed upon for the next period. Some part of these issues is being implemented, while some parts are not being implemented yet. Russian peacekeepers do not take serious steps enough to prevent the entry of foreign nationals into our territory. It concerns us. We convey this concern to the Russian side and I am sure that as time passes these issues will also be regulated."
