"After a 25-year hiatus, the UN Security Council held discussions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict on September 29 and October 19. We would like to note with regret that despite the adoption of four UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 on the occupation of Azerbaijani territories in 1993, the last discussions in the UN Security Council on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict held in 1995", said Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, APA reports.

Mr. Hajiyev said that UN Security Council resolutions condemn Armenia's use of force against Azerbaijan, emphasize that Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan, and demand the unconditional and complete withdrawal of Armenian troops from all occupied territories of Azerbaijan.

“Following discussions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict at the UN Security Council on October 19, a draft statement was prepared on behalf of the Security Council chairman. The draft statement did not reflect references to known UN Security Council resolutions. The mentioned draft was developed mainly by the Russian Federation and France.

Indonesia, Niger, Tunisia, Vietnam, South Africa, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and the Dominican Republic, non-permanent members of the UN Security Council and members of the Non-Aligned Movement have twice violated the silence procedure and insisted on including references of UN Security Council resolutions to statement

Hereby, those states have once again demonstrated their commitment to the UN Charter, norms and principles of international law, UN Security Council resolutions, Bandung principles, and documents of NAM.

After the insistent and principal position of member countries of NaA, the mentioned draft statement has been officially withdrawn.

President Ilham Aliyev expresses gratitude to Indonesia, Niger, Tunisia, Vietnam, South Africa, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines, and the Dominican Republic for their fair and principal position by showing solidarity. He notes that as a chairman of NAM, as he said in his speech at XVIII Summit held in Baku in 2019, after that he will defend the interests of the member countries, international law, and fair in the UN and other international organizations. As a chairman of NAM, President Ilham Aliyev by appealing all member countries calls on solidarity, unity, and reciprocal support on the basis of the Bandung Principles.
