"The Azerbaijani side is committed to resolving the conflict within the Minsk process," said Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Issues Department of the Administration Hikmat Hajiyev at a press conference held today, APA reports.
Assistant to the Azerbaijani President said that currently changing the format is not on the agenda: "The conducted negotiations did not serve the mandate of the Minsk Group. The co-chairs must also draw conclusions from this. Maintaining the status quo in this form is dangerous and must be changed. The goal should be to eliminate the fact of occupation. We are in favor of changing the methodology, not the format. There should be a specific agenda, schedule. Armenia should not be allowed to disrupt the talks on any technical issue. An extended meeting of the Minsk Group should also be held. Illegal settlement in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan destroys the basis of the negotiation process. Fact-finding missions also revealed this. Armenia commits constant provocations on the line of contact and on the border. Saying let Armenia and Azerbaijan come to an agreement, the OSCE Minsk Group will support it, is not in line with the mission of the co-chairs The mandate also demands that the occupation factor be eliminated. On this basis, Azerbaijan supports the subject talks. Whenever opinions are voiced in the negotiation process, Armenia engages in military provocations along with political provocations. They are pursuing a policy of disrupting the negotiation process with provocations committed at the border."
An aide to the President of Azerbaijan noted that Azerbaijan has demonstrated a constructive position: “In return, we hear the unconstructive statement of the Armenian leadership, the views of the Minister of Defense on the occupation of new lands. The international community must respond to this in a proper manner."
