SSS disseminates information on meeting of heads of security and border services of Azerbaijan and Armenia

Public Relations Department of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan has disseminated information on the next meetings of the heads of security and border services of Azerbaijan and Armenia, APA reports citing SSS.

Meetings between Chief of the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan Colonel-General Ali Nagiyev and Director of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia Armen Abazyan were held on January 8, 2020, on the neutral area at the Azerbaijani-Armenian state border passing through the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and on January 10, in Vorotan and Shurnukh border settlements belonging to the Syunik province of Armenia.

Chief of the State Border Service (SBS) of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Elchin Guliyev and the leadership of the border service of Armenia also attended the last meeting.

The issues on joint investigation of incidents at state borders, Security of Nagorno-Karabakh and liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, identification of burial places in combat zones, and exchange of the hostages, as well as clarification of the fate of hostages missing in the First Karabakh War and Patriotic War, have been discussed in the meetings.

At the same time, it has been noted in the conducted negotiations that the continued observance of the ceasefire in accordance with the tripartite Statement dated November 10, 2020 serves the interests and security of both peoples, including the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Karabakh.
