Speaker of Turkish Parliament: Turkey stands by the righteous side in all conflicts
- 08 January 2021
"Historically, Nagorno-Karabakh is the land of Azerbaijan," Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Mustafa Shentop said at the opening ceremony of a symposium on "Balance of Power in the South Caucasus and the Karabakh conflict" in Turkey, APA’s Turkey bureau reports.
He has noted that it has been clearly established that Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Azerbaijan in accordance with agreements signed between Russia and Iran in the early 19th century, as well as in the Soviet-era constitution: “No legal regulation has been discussed in the Soviet time regarding the fact that Nagorno-Karabakh will never have a leadership outside the territory of Azerbaijan. For this reason, when we look back, Nagorno-Karabakh is historically an integral part of Azerbaijan. From a legal point of view, Azerbaijan is right in this matter. UN has 4 resolutions. We must note the OSCE decisions”.
Speaker of the Turkish Parliament has noted that Armenia has made some attempts to take Russia to its side in this conflict: “Russian officials, especially Russian President Vladimir Putin have noted that the war takes place in the Azerbaijani territory”.
Mr. Shentop stressed that Turkey always stands by those who are righteous sie in all disputes and conflicts around the world.
