“Armenia occupied Azerbaijani lands,” Turkish Vice-President Fuad Oktay wrote on Twitter, APA’s Turkish bureau reports citing Anadolu Agency.
According to him, Armenia has once again demonstrated to the world that it is the biggest obstacle to peace and stability in the region.
F. Oktay stressed that attacks started by Armenia on September 27, are the continuation of provocations committed in Tovuz.
Turkish Vice-President noted that concrete steps have not been taken for ending Armenian occupation in Nagorno Garabagh and surrounding territories which continues for 28 years: “ Armenia’s increasing provocations and attacks to Azerbaijani lands has tried the patience of brotherly country. Azerbaijan had to defend itself based on international law. Nagorno Garabagh is Azerbaijani land. Azerbaijan carries out counter-attack operations for protecting its people, restore territorial integrity, peace, and stability in the internationally recognized territories.”
F.Oktay noted that the international community, especially the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group should put pressure on Armenia to withdraw from the occupied territories. He once again stated that Turkey stands by Azerbaijan which was subjected to occupation: “At a time when international law and justice are on Azerbaijan's side, we see our support for Azerbaijan as a responsibility from our historical brotherhood, as well as a conscientious necessity to stand by our brothers who have suffered from the Armenian occupation for 28 years.”
