The head of Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan issues statement on “elections” held in occupied territories
- 09 September 2019
The head of Azerbaijani Community of Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tural Ganjaliyev has issued a statement regarding “self-government elections” held in occupied territories of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
The statement reads:
“On September 8, 2019, next “election show” themed “self-government elections” was organized in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The step was taken by the aggressive Armenia that lost the sense of reality and its criminal Karabakh junta, is totally illegal, has no legal basis and is a great insult to democracy and elections. We want to tell the so-called “leaders” of the separatist junta - Bako Sahakyan, Ashot Galyan, and others that their attempts to cover up with democracy veil are ridiculous, and the “elections” unrecognized by the international community in the context of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia and ethnic cleansing are another show. In fact, by holding such “elections”, the occupant country Armenia and the bloody junta are deceiving only themselves, but not the international community. The fake “elections” once again openly revealed the existence of disagreements between the Armenian authorities and the separatist regime. Along with the Azerbaijani community, the Armenian community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan also suffers from this. We are absolutely sure that the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh, together with the Azerbaijanis who will return after the restoration of the internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan in accordance with the constitution and laws of our country on municipalities, will take part in legal elections to local governments."
