Azerbaijan's Ombudsman appeals to Council of Europe on Nagorno-Karabakh

“We would want to see more concrete steps towards execution of decisions of the Council of Europe related to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict”, the Commissioner for Human Rights of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova said while her speech in a high-level round-table conference devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe entitled “Our rights, our freedoms, our Europe” at the French-Azerbaijani University in Baku, APA reports.

“I would want to see more concrete steps for execution of decisions of the Council of Europe bodies on the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Because progress is impossible without peace”, E. Suleymanova stated.

She also reminded PACE’s resolution No 1416, cited four resolutions of UN Security Council.

The Commissioner for Human Rights said Azerbaijan’s joining the documents of the Council of Europe related to human rights has played an important role in the development of national legislation.
