Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Bashar Jaafari has commented on reports that terrorist groups that left Syria are deployed by Armenia in the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

“I haven’t heard anything about this, but I can say that this is part of international terrorist war that is directed not only against Syria, but also against Iraq, Libya, Egypt and other countries, against the whole world,” Jaafari told APA.

“We warned everyone in advance, but nobody listened to us. We told the governments that sent terrorists to Syria that one day they will have to return, and this turned out to be true,” the ambassador said, stressing that now the whole world must understand its responsibility.

The Syrian envoy called for a joint struggle to eradicate terrorism.

“In this regard, states should take a unified position, no matter where terrorists are – in Syria, Russia or Azerbaijan,” he added.

Bashar Jaafari also touched upon the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“Syria wants the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict to be resolved in line with international law,” he said.

Jaafari is visiting Baku to attend the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Mid-Term Ministerial Conference, titled “Promoting international peace and security for sustainable development”, which kicked off on April 5.
