801 convicts were pardoned, 463 persons were released from imprisonment

Considering the amnesty appeals of a number of convicted persons, their family members, the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and human rights protection organizations addressed to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed Order on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, APA reports.

According to the Order, 801 convicts were pardoned, of which 463 persons were released from imprisonment, 220 persons were released from the unserved half of the imrisonment sentence, 118 persons were released from other punishments not related to deprivation of liberty (restriction of liberty, correctional works, fines and persons sentenced to conditional sentences).

It was noted that this Order is the largest act of amnesty adopted in the history of the independent Republic of Azerbaijan in terms of the number of persons it applies to.
