On November 11, 2022, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan Seyyed Abbas Mousavi has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the press service of the Ministry told APA.

It has been noted that disagreement and concern regarding provocation, smearing campaign against the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iranian media over recent times, and threatening rhetoric of high rank political and military officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran are not relevant to the spirit of relations between two countries, have been brought to the attention of the opposite side at the meeting.

The unacceptability of the creation of a condition for settlement of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who committed crimes against the basics of the Constitutional structure of Azerbaijan and of whom an arrest warrant was issued with a court verdict and put on the international wanted list, in Iran and necessity of handing over of the criminals have once again been noted.

It has been noted that the reception of the persons, who triggered separatism in the Republic of Azerbaijan and hid in other countries to avoid criminal prosecution, in the Iranian Embassies is an unfriendly step.

It has been stressed that the dissemination of such information and the conduction of such activity against Azerbaijan in Iran is unacceptable and an end is expected to be put to these as soon as possible.
