Canada's Governor-General, Mary Simon sent a congratulatory letter to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.
The letter reads:
"Your Excellency,
On behalf of all Canadians, I congratulate you and the Azerbaijani people on the occasion of national holiday of your country - Independence Day.
As the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries approaches, Canada is pleased with the expansion of relations with Azerbaijan. Our partnership, based on the strong ties between our peoples and active Azerbaijani-Canadian society, has been further strengthened by our commitment to international cooperation in the solution of the important issues of common interest, such as women's empowerment and environmental protection.
At a time when our countries are trying to build a better future for their citizens, Canada hopes to further develop relations with Azerbaijan.
On this significant day, Canadian people join the people of Azerbaijan, as well as all Azerbaijanis living in Canada and celebrate your country's Independence Day together. I wish all your people peace and prosperity".
