"A new airport is under construction in Lachin district. The most difficult aspect of the construction of this airport is the lack of flat land in Lachin and Kalbajar districts," said President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his speech after a groundbreaking ceremony for the Istisu sanatorium in Kalbajar district on June 26, APA reports.
"This is why we are cutting through the mountains to create suitable conditions for a runway. Therefore, earthworks will be continued next year. I do hope that an international airport will be opened in Lachin in 2024, after which travel will be more comfortable," stressed President Ilham Aliyev.
