Embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan issued statement regarding Tokyo-2020

The embassy of Japan in Azerbaijan has issued a statement, APA reports.

The comments have made on the rumors about the decision to cancel the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

It is noted in the statement, which the official position of the Government of Japan has been expressed, that the news about the cancellation of competitions is not true: “It is said in some news spread today that the Japanese government has made an unofficial statement on the decision to cancel the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is not definitely true. The schedule of all games and list of venues starting from the opening ceremony to be held on July 23 this year have been decided during the session of the International Olympic Committee in July last year and currently, related persons are conducting preparations together in order to hold Games successfully this year”.

The Embassy announces that as the Government of Japan, all-important measures will be implemented against COVID-19: “We will continue preparations for safe and successful Games together with International Olympic Committee, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Paralympic Games Organizing Committee, Tokyo’s City Hall”.
